This is a very simple recipe, I even hesitate to call it a recipe. See, it's just three ingredients (four if you want to get a little extra savory) that are heated together into one awesome formula. So instead, think of it as a suggestion for what to serve at your next party... one that you should take.
There's not much more to do here than chop up some kielbasa, but the end result is so delicious that you were willing to go the extra mile to achieve that flavour. Those little bites of kielbasa are cooked in a sweet, sticky sauce that's the perfect contrast to its smokiness. It's the perfect snack or app, and it couldn't be easier.
Strips of kielbasa go into the slow cooker (we have directions on the stovetop down if you prefer to go that route!) along with some brown sugar and cola until each piece is coated in caramelized sweetness. You can add a little chili powder for a stronger kick, but its main function is really to back up the smokiness of kielbasa.
This takes three hours in the slow cooker, which gives you plenty of time to arrange the rest of your affairs if you're serving it for company. All you have to do is stop and stir now and then. They can hang out in the slow cooker for serving, too; Keeps it warm and from getting too sticky as it cools.
You can think of these like a Winnie the Pooh cocktail. They have the same irresistibly sweet and smoky thing going for them, but they're way more elegant and unexpected. If it were easier to make, they would keep making themselves... The only problem you're likely to have is tearing your guests away from the bowl.
